Dr. Juan Gordillo is a specialist in breast reduction surgery in Mexico. The surgeon makes three incisions around the areola, from the areola down the breast and through the lower crease of the breast. Through these incisions, excess fat, skin, and breast tissue are removed. The nipple and areola are moved to a higher position and, in some cases, the areola is made smaller.
The usual is a tissue reduction of between 300 and 1500 grams for each side of the bust, with a technique that forces to have a resulting scar in the shape of an inverted T or anchor (around the areola, down and below the groove of the breast). Scars are intimate and we spend a year reviewing and caring for them with silicone sheets and scar modulating gels to ensure that they are imperceptible.
Sometimes liposuction is combined with a reduction mammoplasty to remove excess fat from the armpit and underarm areas, improving the silhouette. Preparation for surgery includes the clinical tests requested by Dr. Gordillo, quitting smoking at least two weeks before surgery (and at least two weeks after), stopping the consumption of aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and supplements that influence the bleeding and scarring.
Breast reduction recovery is faster when not accompanied by implants. After surgery, a bandage is placed and Dr. Gordillo will periodically check the healing. Around the fifth day the bandage is removed and replaced with a bra to hold the tissues in place. Rest time varies from 10 to 15 days, after which normal activities can be resumed, with the exception of sports, which can be practiced again around the sixth month.
In general, breast reduction surgery is very safe, but like other surgeries there are some risks:

The scars can take time to fade and do not disappear completely. Creases may appear around the incisions during the healing period. In some cases, sensitivity is lost and this can make breastfeeding difficult.
